Scrappy elephant patchwork

I finished hand stitching the binding on this last night-it is a quilt for the founder of the East Coast Momma Collective-Sarah Dhooge.  She is pregnant with her 2nd baby boy and gave me a list of colors she likes and this is what I came up with it.  I picked the elephant fabric first, and took complimenting colors from there.

I had 2 extra strips, so added those to the back along with Kona Ash, an orange, teal and chartreuse (sorry, I didn't look at the names of the Kona's-I don't have them all memorized like some people I know ;)

I did straight lines, corner to corner for the quilting with a light grey thread.

Patchwork blankie

Finished a patchwork blanket today in my new craft room!  So much fun to try out the new cutting table and new sewing area.  Much, much better to sew on a sturdy table and not a plastic folding table that bounced my machine if I went too fast.  

This will soon be going to it's new home.  I just found out yesterday that I will be a vendor at the spring East Coast Momma Collective show, so excited about that.  Now, to start building some inventory!!

The Great Craft Room Renovation is Complete!

After a  week of cleaning and renovating my craft room I'm ready to post photos!!  (and my computer is acting very strangely when I use blogger and underlining everything and not uploading photos properly, so I'll apologize right now for that).  These are the before photos, all my storage was a mish mash of Home Depot cubicles and shelving.  What a mess!!


This was my paper crafting area- again, too much stuff and not enough closed storage to put it.  I was on the hunt for cabinets with shallow drawers and found this in the back hallway of our church.  After speaking with our Priest, it found it's way to may basement, where we put on 3 coats of Terra Rose paint (Martha Stewart) and voila!  Perfect storage for fabric scraps-each drawer has it's own color (of course).

This is the paper crafting area now!  We painted the walls Borrowed Light (Farrow and Ball) and then found a ton of storage with these Ikea Alex drawers.  I bought 6 of the units with castors and then just stacked them.

Here is a view of the custom cutting table, built by Marsha Sefcik Interiors.  Marsha is an interior decorator and a good friend who designed and installed most of this project.  We installed a smooth counter top for the paper craft area, and then they built a spot for my sewing machine on the left.  Undermount lighting and a backsplash finished off this corner.

Rick, from Ruff-Stuff Woodworking came to the rescue with a barn board shelf to put all my fabric on that is large enough to wrap on these comic book boards.  Looks like my shelf has extra room on it-better buy some more fabric and fill it up!!

Of course, I found lots of pretty storage options at Winners.  These are all my markers/pencil crayons stored in one spot now.

The Alex drawers filled with supplies-above are my jersey knits for scarves.

And, some are filled with my rubber stamp collection.  Now, I'm inspired to get down there and make some crafts!!!

The Library Project-month 2

I can honestly say that since I have joined the Maritime Modern Quilt Guild, I have been inspired to make more quilts, and not always make the smaller items that I have been.  (But, there is a huge satisfaction in sitting down and completing something in one shot!).  Anyhow,  I have finished all 48 blocks on the twin size quilt I've been working on, and tomorrow at the Sew-In, I will put the top together as I have all the white sashing and borders cut.  I also have the  patterned fabric cut from the Simply Retro quilt that I will be making next.  Here is a photo of the finished blocks-hopefully will be able to share the finished top with you in the next few days!

Enchanted Blanket

 Busy working on a custom order for a chenille blanket for a little girl.  I love this line called Enchant-it is just so whimsical and cute, the blue block below is my absolute favorite.

This is backed with white chenille and will soon be given to a new baby to snuggle and enjoy!

New quilted baby blanket!

This is just so sweet!  I started cutting rectangles last night, and sewed them all together today and quilted it to a flannel piece in the middle.  I then backed it with blue minky chenille-the finished size is 28x33.  I really love this, maybe I need to start doing more rectangles since I've been hooked on squares for so long!

New scarves

 Made a few new scarves today- I'll be applying for a Spring Fair soon that will take place on April 26th, so, in hopes of being a vendor there I thought I would start sewing some stock.  Also, my craft room redesign begins in less than 2 weeks so trying to clear up some fabric off my table at the same time!!  I'm excited, it's going to be so much more functional and pretty!  I'll for sure share some photos with you.
